Gary Moore keen to test top chaser's Champion Chase credentials at Newbury

Gary Moore has experienced racing's ups and downs in the past two weeks and hopes Editeur Du Gite can fall into the former category once more when testing his Champion Chase credentials in the Betfair Exchange Game Spirit Chase at Newbury next month.

Editeur Du Gite, who sports the same Preston family silks as 2014 Champion Chase winner Sire De Grugy, was a 28-1 winner of the Ladbrokes Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton on December 27 – a victory described as a “massive surprise” by Moore.

The nine-year-old capitalised on last year’s Arkle winner Edwardstone exiting at the fifth fence to produce a career-best performance in beating Nube Negra by 13 lengths under Niall Houlihan.
