Henry Daly brings horse back from the dead after non-runner confusion
Mark Twain once quipped about reports of his own death being exaggerated and to the great American writer we can now add the Henry Daly-trained Crucial Role.
Confusion surrounded the reason for the five-year-old's withdrawal from Haydock's 1.35 on Saturday morning, after the BHA's live racing updates page stated bluntly that he was "dead".
Elsewhere, however, including at Haydock and on other areas of the BHA's site, the reason given was far more mundane in that he would instead be running in his first preference race, a handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter on Sunday.
"Unfortunately, I pressed the wrong button this morning and they've changed it after I called them," Daly later explained.
All's well that ends well then, especially for Crucial Role.
