Heavy rain forces Hamilton to cancel its meeting on Tuesday
Tuesday's seven-race card at Hamilton has been cancelled after heavy rain resulted in areas of false ground.
The Scottish track, which had to abandon its ladies' day meeting earlier this month, has endured an extremely wet period and more rain is forecast, meaning there is no prospect of conditions improving.
Clerk of the course Sulekha Varma said: "Unfortunately it has just been so wet up here. We've had more than 130mm of rain since the start of this month – and 74mm of that in the last seven days. Sadly that has left the course completely saturated.
"We've got a comprehensive and effective drainage system but it can’t cope with that level and amount of rain. We've got areas of false ground – the entrance and exit to the loop and then the pull-up area as well. With further rain forecast there is just not an opportunity for it to improve. It is really disappointing.”
Hamilton’s next scheduled fixture is the Lanark Silver Bell meeting on Friday, August 30.
