'He won't be far away' - Probert confident Coltrane has enough for Ascot prize

David Probert expects every ounce of stamina to be drained from the eight runners in Saturday's Qipco British Champions Long Distance Cup over two miles at Ascot but would not swap his mount Coltrane for any of his rivals.

The Andrew Balding-trained five-year-old has developed into a classy stayer and proved as much when getting the better of Trueshan, winner of the last two Long Distance Cups, in last month's Group 2 Doncaster Cup.

That was Probert's first opportunity on Coltrane, and although he remains confident in the ability of his mount, he believes it will be a sterner test with St Leger winner Eldar Eldarov and the unexposed Waterville joining Trueshan in the line-up.
