'He looks potentially exciting' - last week's horses to follow

With our expert race readers watching – and writing a descriptive in-running comment for – every horse who runs in Britain and Ireland, there are three different categories used to denote those who are most appealing with the future in mind.

Members' Club Ultimate subscribers can add the names of the horses mentioned to their Racing Post Horse Tracker and will then receive email alerts when they are entered or declared again.

On their next start, the horses will be flagged in Signposts, which can be found in the Racing Post newspaper or online as part of Members' Club on raceday.

Non-members can sign up here to get the tracker, race replays and in-depth race analysis, as well as exclusive content from our team of tipsters and writers.

Did well in the circumstances

Attrazione
Third, Newcastle, October 24

Had to be switched for a clear run inside the final two furlongs but got rolling just a bit too late. She ran on strongly in the closing stages to get involved in the photo and moving up to a mile promises to suit her well.

Hot Scoop
Third, Catterick, October 25

The combination of missing the break and ending up on the far side of the group from a draw one off the near rail likely cost him victory. His slowish starts can make life a bit awkward but he will be of interest if connections can find him a race on turf next week.

Dawn Vega
Third, Newmarket, October 29

After sweating up beforehand and racing keenly, he was continually denied a clear run against the stands' rail. He shaped a good bit better than the beaten distance and can be given another chance.

Fourth, Newmarket, October 29

Could have settled better upped a fair way in grade and wandered about running into the Dip, but she was keeping on at the finish. As her breeding suggests, there should be better to come over middle distances next year.

Eyecatcher

Second, Leicester, October 24

Finished her race off well without quite getting there and can win a maiden/novice if kept on the go this autumn; moving into handicaps is also an option.

Fifth, Kempton, October 26

Soundly beaten on his first two starts but caught the eye under considerate handling. He will be suited by the step up to the mile and beyond and he is one to note in ordinary handicaps.

Sixth, Lingfield, October 27

A 160,000gns half-brother to a winner in Greece out of an all-weather winner, he caught the eye on debut. Behind after a tardy start, he had plenty to do from two furlongs out and had to wait for a gap to appear. When he did see some daylight, he ran on strongly without being given a hard time, and he should be much more streetwise next time.

Showtime Mahomes
Seventh, Southwell, October 28

Would have finished closer with a clearer run. This was an encouraging effort on his all-weather debut and he is worth keeping in mind.

Be Fair
Sixth, Southwell, October 28

Back from a break, he was left with plenty to do having been hampered as they rounded the last bend before keeping on best he could – he too will be of some interest next time.

Promising

Manothepeople
First, Chepstow, October 25

A former point winner who won his last two starts over hurdles, he is a big boy and looked a complete natural on this first start over fences, assuming control with a cracking jump at the first in the straight and never looking in any danger from that point on. He would appear to have the potential to make up into a smart staying chaser.

Ludmilla
Third, Newmarket, October 29

A sister to two winners, she showed signs of inexperience but finished really well to grab a place on this debut run. She ought to come on plenty for this and, being a daughter of Kingman, a sounder surface is likely to suit her better.

Orchid Bloom
First, Newmarket, October 29

Cost 55,000gns and is the first foal of a seven-furlong all-weather two-year-old winner. She came under pressure before a few of her rivals on this debut run but responded well and seemed to relish the soft ground, drawing away on the climb to the line to win in a faster time than the winner of the first division. She is the type to do better next year.

Three Card Brag
First, Galway, October 29

Won a Wexford bumper first-time up in March and won in good style on this hurdling debut. His jumping was mostly okay with a couple of exceptions, but the manner in which he picked up in the closing stages was impressive. There is every chance that he could improve again with a step up in trip and he looks potentially exciting.
