Continual rain washed away any hope of Limato taking his chance in the 32Red Sprint Cup and ended Henry Candy's bid to land a clean sweep of Britain's Group 1 all-aged six-furlong races.

The July Cup winner had been announced an intended runner only earlier in the week, after reportedly thriving following his second in the Nunthorpe at York just a fortnight earlier.

But when he was declared on Thursday, instead of Diamond Jubilee Stakes-winning stablemate Twilight Son, his trainer stressed he would not run if the word 'soft' appeared in the going description.
