Noel Meade believes talented hurdler Beacon Edge could be in a position to return from a colic issue as early as the end of January, with the twice Grade 1-placed performer continuing to make good progress in his recovery.

Fresh from posting a career best when third to Honeysuckle in the Hatton's Grace Hurdle in November, the Gigginstown-owned seven-year-old was forced to miss his intended run in the Grade 1 Matheson Hurdle at Leopardstown over Christmas when the issue came to light on declaration day.

"Thankfully he's gotten over it well and didn't require any surgery," said Meade.
