Harrington backs up Bolger call for overhaul

Leading trainer Jessica Harrington has backed Jim Bolger's demand for improved drug testing measures in Irish racing and believes more funding is needed to ensure that happens.

In the wake of the revelation the Turf Club is not testing for enhanced levels of either Cobalt and TCO2 – more commonly known as milkshaking – Bolger called for an upgrade of testing procedures to match the best international standards to ensure that prohibited performance-enhancing substances are not being utilised.

Harrington, who expressed a hope that Irish racing is clean, has echoed those sentiments. Speaking yesterday at the Curragh, the Moone trainer suggested an increase in funding would help the situation.
