BHA chief executive Julie Harrington has said "the hard work really starts here" as she promised to accelerate work on reshaping the fixture list to make British racing more attractive to customers and owners from 2024.

Speaking exclusively to the Racing Post, Harrington expanded on a BHA statement issued yesterday which detailed the authority's progress in developing a long-term strategy for the sport aimed at addressing issues such as small field sizes, a drain of equine talent abroad and uncompetitive prize-money.

The BHA has already announced changes to the 2023 fixture list and programme, including the removal of 170 races, but the most urgent strategy work will result in proposals for further innovation in 2024.
