Guineas favourite Caravaggio set for Phoenix Stakes outing
O'Brien plans to run star juvenile at the Curragh on Sunday
Aidan O'Brien has dominated the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes since first winning it in 1998 and looks set to do so again on Sunday, with Qipco 2,000 Guineas favourite Caravaggio heading his six acceptors for a Group 1 event at the Curragh the Ballydoyle master has won 14 times.
Caravaggio, unbeaten in three starts, landed the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot on his most recent outing, beating subsequent July and Richmond Stakes winner Mehmas by two and a quarter lengths. He is general 3-1 favourite for next year's 2,000 Guineas.
O'Brien said on Tuesday: "We gave Caravaggio a little break after Ascot. He seems to be in good form and the plan is to run him on Sunday. We'll probably run another one or two in the race and we'll decide which of them will run later in the week."
