Group 1 winners push British entries to record level

Britain's richest raceday could be over-run with Group 1 winners after Qipco British Champions Day attracted a record 256 entries, including the winners of 79 top-level races.

Harzand, Minding, Galileo Gold, The Gurkha and Almanzor are among the winners of 15 Classics engaged, while Fascinating Rock is one of 23 individual Group 1 winners entered in the £1.3 million Qipco Champion Stakes, which he captured a year ago.

Total entries for the £4.2 million fixture at Ascot on October 15 are more than ten per cent up on last year and 11 more than the previous highest number in 2013
