Grand National-winning jockey Robbie Power will receive an update on his persistent eye-socket injury when he visits a specialist in Dublin's Maher Hospital on Tuesday.

The injury, which came about from a fall over hurdles on the Jessica Harrington-trained Flaviana at Galway on July 27, has not healed as expected.

Power said on Monday: "There's six muscles attached to your eyeball which are supposed to work together, and from the impact from the fall at Galway the ones at the floor of the eye bed aren't working as they should.

"It's frustrating. When I look out through the top of my eye, which is the position you're in when you're on top of a horse, I have complete double vision.

"I'll be seeing the eye surgeon and see what he has to say, but hopefully there'll be something positive to come out of the visit."

Power, who landed the Thyestes Handicap Chase on My Murphy in January, briefly resumed riding in October, but the problem persisted and he has been on the sidelines since unseating on Bobabout at Gowran Park on October 1.
