Dan Skelton said nothing would get him more excited than heading into the spring with a live Grand National contender after Le Milos's Coral Gold Cup victory took his yard through the £1 million prize-money barrier for the season.

Le Milos gave the trainer his second huge Saturday in a row with his Newbury triumph and is now being pointed towards the Randox Grand National in April, for which he is a best-priced 25-1 shot.

Protektorat provided the Skeltons with their first Betfair Chase success at Haydock last Saturday, before Le Milos struck on just his second start for the stable.
