Goodwood Cup or Irish St Leger next for Royal Ascot no-show Kew Gardens
Last year's St Leger hero Kew Gardens could get his season back on track in either the Goodwood Cup or Irish St Leger after poor blood results ruled him out of Royal Ascot last month.
Runner-up in the Ormonde Stakes at Chester, he went on to lose by half a length to subsequent Hardwicke winner Defoe in the Coronation Cup at Epsom.
Trainer Aidan O'Brien said: "Kew Gardens was in the Gold Cup and the Hardwicke but his blood wasn't 100 per cent and he didn't travel. His blood is fine now and he's back in work.
"We're thinking about the Goodwood Cup for him if he is ready in time. If he doesn't make it he'll be aimed at the Irish St Leger."
The Qatar Sussex Stakes on July 31 is under consideration for St James's Palace Stakes winner Circus Maximus, according to O'Brien.
A supplementary entry when successfully dropping to a mile at Royal Ascot, Circus Maximus was in the mix for the Coral-Eclipse on Saturday but was not declared for the 1m2f event in which the Ballydoyle trainer will be represented by Magical and Hunting Horn.
O'Brien said: "We're thinking about keeping Circus Maximus to a mile for his next start and while we haven't made a definite decision yet we're looking at running him in the Sussex."
