Golden Horde helps Mtoto Eclipse team towards £10,000 monthly prize
The Tote Ten To Follow leaderboard is dominated by Royal Ascot bonus-race winners, with Commonwealth Cup hero Golden Horde top of the heap with 59.15 points thanks to a Tote return of £7.00 win and £2.15 place bumping up his points haul for the 7.3 per cent of stables who selected him.
With the Irish Derby winner Santiago not included in the Ten To Follow competition as his prime achievement before his Royal Ascot Queen’s Vase triumph was landing a maiden at Listowel, the biggest scorer of the weekend was Magical.
She picked up her fifth career Group 1 in the Pretty Polly and returned 27.30 points to the 17 per cent of stables who picked her. She lies just outside the top ten points scorers in 12th place.
On the same card, Joseph O’Brien’s Speak In Colours built on his fifth in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot to win the Greenlands Stakes, returning 25.80 points. He figures in just 50 stables.
The victory of eight-year-old Judicial in Newcastle’s Chipchase Stakes scored a handy 26.90 points. A Tote return of £11.90 to a £1 each-way stake topped up the 15 points for a Group 3 success.
Another eight-year-old Limato also rolled back the years and his Criterion Stakes success secured 22.30 points. Only 34 stables selected him.
The team of Mtoto Eclipse 6 has the £10,000 June prize wrapped up and is well placed to make a flying start in pursuit of the July pot.
The stable includes six of the seven top-scoring horses and, although it is without a Derby or Oaks contender, it does have two hopes for bonus points in the Coral-Eclipse in Lord North and Japan.
Highland Chief, who picked up 42.55 points in winning the Golden Gates Handicap at Royal Ascot with Tote returns of £25.05 and £7.50, will represent just 13 stables when he takes his place in the Derby line-up on Saturday.
