Gold-Fun is on track to become the first Hong Kong-trained horse to run in France when he was yesterday confirmed an intended starter in Sunday's Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest, in which he will have "a very competitive chance" according to trainer Richard Gibson.

The seven-year-old, who came within a neck of landing a first Group 1 when second in the Diamond Jubilee, had a short break after Royal Ascot but is now being prepared from Robert Cowell's Newmarket base.

The winner of 11 races and more than £3.8 million in prize-money, Gold-Fun is one of 19 still engaged in the Deauville feature after yesterday's forfeits, along with Group 1 winners Gordon Lord Byron, Esoterique and Air Force Blue.
