Early support for Aidan O'Brien duo as he bids for a record seventh Irish Oaks
Aidan O'Brien bids for a record seventh win in the Juddemonte Irish Oaks today and his two Classic runners, Emily Dickinson and Toy, have seen early support.
O'Brien won last year's Classic with Snowfall and Emily Dickinson, whose dam Chicquita won the 2013 renewal, has been trimmed into 5-1 (from 11-2) by Paddy Power.
The illustriously bred Toy, his second representative, has been cut to 6-1 (from 13-2) and she will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of siblings Marvellous, Happily and Joan of Arc, who all scored at the top level.
At Newbury, Miami Girl has been the one for support in the Weatherbys Super Sprint. She was available at 8-1 earlier today but is now a general 13-2 to give Richard Hannon a fifth win in the race.
Newbury expecting quick ground
The going for Newbury's Super Sprint card remains an unchanged good to firm after 5mm of watering on Friday evening.
The highlight is the Weatherbys Super Sprint (3.30) which will see 19 two-year-olds charging down the Newbury straight, with the winner picking up £98,340.
Speaking just after 8am, clerk of the course Keith Ottesen said: "I've left it good to firm, we put 5mm of water on after racing yesterday because of the warm weather and it has dried back a bit.
"That's pre-empting another hot and dry day, this morning we're more or less good ground. The going stick is 6.2 and we're expecting a beautiful day.
"The Super Sprint is a fantastic race, everybody loves it. It's a valuable race for its type and one of the highlights of the Newbury season – we can't wait.
"It's going to be a beautiful day, we've got a good crowd and a bunch of very exciting two-year-olds, and someone is going to take away a huge pot."
Richard Hannon has won three of the last four renewals of the race and he sends a five-strong team to the race, including the well-fancied pair of Miami Girl and Swift Asset.
There is also Classic action on a bumper day of racing at the Curragh in the form of the Juddemonte Irish Oaks (3.45), where Aidan O'Brien is bidding to become the outright holder of the most wins in the race, an accolade he currently shares with Sir Michael Stoute – both currently have six apiece.
