An already spectacular Ladbrokes Punchestown Gold Cup became even stronger on Thursday when Gordon Elliott revealed star stayer Galvin will go head to head with Allaho, Clan Des Obeaux and Minella Indo in a blockbuster festival clash.

Ronnie Bartlett's prolific eight-year-old is the only horse to lower the colours of A Plus Tard this season, having swooped late to land a thrilling edition of the Savills Chase in December.

A change of tactics in the Boodles Cheltenham Gold Cup resulted in A Plus Tard turning the tables on his Leopardstown conqueror in no uncertain terms, but Galvin stayed on admirably to just be denied for third by Protektorat.
