Godolphin free up historic Warren Place as NHS Covid-19 vaccination centre
Godolphin have done their bit towards the mass Covid-19 vaccination programme across Britain by freeing up the historic Warren Place Stables in Newmarket as a site to be used by the NHS.
The former home of Sir Henry and Lady Cecil, where champions such as Frankel, Bosra Sham and Kris were trained, has been vacant since it was sold to Godolphin in 2015.
The yard was totally refurbished the following year and the original front yard and house remain, but the site has had footfall of a different kind in recent days.
One of the main sites set up for vaccinations in the Newmarket area has been the Rowley Mile racecourse, but that is out of action with racing back at the venue in recent weeks, along with spectators.
Hugh Anderson, managing director of Godolphin, said: "The National Health Service wanted somewhere to have a mobile Covid-19 vaccination service and we were happy to help out by opening up Warren Place.
"There were quite a lot of racing people involved and I think they were short of a venue while the Rowley Mile was in use. Godolphin were happy to help out and Warren Place had plenty of parking and has easy access."
He added: "I think overall in excess of 250 people were vaccinated earlier this week. Hopefully instead of people we will have horses in Warren Place in the near future."
