Irish racing looks to be witnessing a golden generation of apprentice riders at present and the fact that Gavin Ryan has emerged atop the pile in 2020 – and by some margin – speaks volumes about his talent.

Six apprentices rode at least 20 winners this season, an achievement that hasn't been recorded for 22 years, and the title winner's closing tally of 51 is the highest since Donnacha O'Brien's haul of 48 in 2016.

Coincidentally, O'Brien has been instrumental in Ryan's sensational campaign.
