The funeral of Paul Blockley will be held at St Michael’s and All Angels Church in Lambourn at 2pm on March 5.

Blockley died in hospital last week aged 61. He enjoyed Group 1 success with Zafisio in the 2008 Criterium International at Saint-Cloud and also trained the Group 3 winner Lady Deauville.

Partner Jo Hughes said: "I've been overwhelmed with the love that so many people had for Paul, and the kindness they've shown me.

"We will be saying goodbye to Paul with a celebration of his life on 5th March, 2pm at St Michael’s and All Angels Church Lambourn and afterwards at The Plough, Eastbury. Instead of flowers we would appreciate a charitable donation."

Hart successful in appeal

Jockey Jason Hart has been successful in his appeal against a six-day riding suspension imposed by stewards at Wolverhampton on February 3.

The course stewards deemed Hart had been careless in his riding by allowing his mount She's Easyontheeye to edge left-handed when insufficiently clear and causing interference in the 5f handicap.

However, at a disciplinary panel hearing on Thursday, Hart's appeal was upheld in full and the ban quashed. Full written reasons for the decision are expected to follow in due course.
