Frustrated trainers call for extra Dundalk races as balloting issue rumbles on

The body representing hundreds of smaller trainers in Ireland has implored the racing authorities to provide more opportunities for horses to run at Dundalk over the coming months, with Friday's fixture yielding 127 entries for a single low-grade handicap alone.

The Restricted Trainers Association, which represents handlers in Ireland with four or fewer horses, has expressed frustration over horses being balloted out of races at Ireland's only all-weather venue, particularly in lower-class handicaps.

In a letter sent to Horse Racing Ireland this week, the group suggested fixtures could be extended to create nine-race cards, providing extra opportunities for horses to run, and that an additional six meetings be added for early 2021.
