Four of Phoenix Thoroughbreds' most expensive sales purchases
High-profile Phoenix Thoroughbreds has been prolific in the sales ring in recent years. Here are four of its most expensive purchases . . .
Do You Love Me
Bought for €3.2 million at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale on October 3, 2018
The sister to Oaks winner Forever Together became the most expensive yearling filly sold by Goffs last year when Phoenix Thoroughbreds outbid Coolmore.
That took Phoenix’s spending at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale to just short of €6m for six lots across the two-day auction.
Do You Love Me, a daughter of Galileo out of Green Room, has not raced at two but is trained by Karl Burke and entered in the early closing Tattersalls Irish 1,000 Guineas, Investec Derby and Kerrygold Irish Oaks next year.
Luck On Sunday
€2m at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale on October 2, 2018
Phoenix Thoroughbreds paid €2m for this sister to three-time top-level winner Alice Springs at the same sale last autumn.
Named after Racing TV’s Sunday morning programme, Luck On Sunday joined Martyn Meade but is unraced at two.
The daughter of Galileo out of Aleagueoftheirown is also a Derby entry.
Lumino
$2.1m at the Keeneland September Sale on September 13, 2018
The high-profile owners parted with $8.79m for 21 lots at last year’s Keeneland September Sale, most notably spending $2.1m on Medaglia D’Oro colt Lumino.
Lumino is out of stakes-winning mare Exotic Bloom, a three-time Grade 1 winner, and was one of the most expensive lots at the sale but is another yet to race at two.
