Former owner and co-writer of Upstairs Downstairs dies aged 77

Trainer Peter Bailey has paid tribute to his former owner Terence Brady, the famous television scriptwriter and actor who has died at the age of 77.

Brady, along with his wife Charlotte Bingham, co-wrote some of Britain's best-loved sitcoms and dramas, including the first two series of Upstairs, Downstairs in the early 1970s.

Bailey said: "Terence was a lovely man. He had only the one horse with me – a little horse called Fredwel, who won nine races and five point-to-points in Ireland.
