Davy Russell apologised on Friday for his conduct at Clonmel the previous day, when he received bans totalling 17 days – three for improper riding and 14 for his subsequent behaviour in the stewards’ room.

Russell said: "I would like to apologise unreservedly for my conduct at Clonmel on Thursday, which fell far below the standards expected of any sportsman.

“My conduct after the race was quite simply unacceptable and I appreciate fully that I have let myself, my family and others down."
