Shane Foley enjoyed an unusual big-race double at the Curragh yesterday when dead-heating as the first jockey to cross the line in the 10km Jog For Jockeys event in the morning before returning to land the Royal Whip Stakes on Success Days in the afternoon.

Foley was the first rider to cross the line in last year's Jog For Jockeys, run in aid of Irish Injured Jockeys, but this time had to share the honours with Ronan Whelan as more than 400 competitors consisting of jockeys, stable and stud staff, a few trainers and members of the public took part in the two events, over 5km or 10km.

Foley, who enjoyed his first Classic win when Jet Setting won the Irish 1,000 Guineas at the course in May, said after his jogging triumph: "It's a cause we have to support and I enjoyed being involved again. I didn't want to expend too much energy with rides later in the day and myself and Ronan kept each other company without going flat out."
