Aidan O'Brien's Curragh Cup and Irish St Leger Trial winner Flag Of Honour and his son Joseph's Irish Derby winner Latrobe were the two highest-profile absentees from Saturday's William Hill St Leger Stakes as 12 runners were declared.

O'Brien snr remains strongly represented with five runners, headed by Kew Gardens with Southern France, The Pentagon, Nelson and Zabriskie completing the quintet.

Grand Prix de Paris winner Kew Gardens was on Thursday contesting favouritism with John Gosden's Lah Ti Dar, who was confirmed for the final Classic of the British Flat season on Wednesday.

Flag Of Honour and Latrobe are expected to go for the Irish St Leger 24 hours later at the Curragh, while Brundtland goes to France for the Prix Niel, also on Sunday. Giuseppe Garibaldi is the other entry from the five-day stage who is not in the final field.

Godolphin's Old Persian is joined by his Charlie Appleby-trained stablemate Loxley, despite his weakness in the the betting market on Wednesday leading many to conclude the Grand Prix de Deauville winner would not take part.
