The Dikler was greatly saddened by the death of jump racing great Denman last week, The Tank having brought so much joy and happiness throughout his extraordinary career.

The pinnacle of that career, of course, was his 2008 Gold Cup win when he dethroned reigning champion Kauto Star and led home a 1-2-3 for trainer Paul Nicholls.

Neptune Collonges, who is spending a happy retirement with owner John Hales, was third in that memorable contest, and will always hold a special place in the heart of Harry Findlay, Denman’s larger than life co-owner.
