Fergal O'Brien warned he may have to "cut his cloth accordingly" as trainers consider increasing fees for owners in light of spiralling fuel and feed prices.

Nicky Henderson and Alan King voiced their concerns about rising costs on Monday, and O'Brien, who has saddled 116 winners this season and is seventh in the trainers' championship, said the extra expense would need to be shared across the sport.

"It's definitely impacted us," he said. "The price of fuel has absolutely rocketed and we'll probably see a rise in the price of feed later on in the year, so we're all going to have to look at it with our business model and adjust. It will affect everyone, it can't not.
