Feelings still raw over Nars quiz but trainers' chief welcomes McGrath apology
NTF president Arnold says Guest comments reflect concerns of many members
National Trainers' Federation president Rupert Arnold believes the row over a spoof quiz which criticised working practices in the racing industry may have a chance to cool down in the coming days, after his opposite number at the head of the National Association of Racing Staff admitted it had struck the wrong tone.
Arnold was speaking in the wake of trainer Rae Guest's decision to withdraw support from Newmarket's Racing Centre in protest at the publication of the quiz, a move he directly linked to Nars president George McGrath's stewardship of the charity.
While he said that Guest's dismay at what he deemed "unfounded allegations" contained within the Nars quiz was widely shared by many other trainers, Arnold believes that comments made both on the Luck On Sunday programme and to the Racing Post show that McGrath is committed to mending fences in the relationship between the bodies that represent employers and employees within racing.
