Name Zac Baker
Age 22
Total wins 18 (including one on the Flat)
Biggest win “The Bangor double was great but I rode Tambura to win the first race on Midlands Grand National day last year. That was a big buzz; the place was absolutely rammed”

You wait six months for a winner – then two come along at once. That has been the happy experience of amateur rider Zac Baker, who rode a double for Nigel Twiston-Davies at Bangor eight days ago. It did not end there: Baker was also on the mark at Plumpton two days later, when he rode Tambura to win for the fifth time.

The younger brother of top Flat pilot George, Baker has enjoyed an eventful year. He joined Twiston-Davies at the start of the campaign, having previously worked at Martin Bosley’s stables. He also made an impact in the point-to-point sphere, where he rode 16 winners from 50 rides, and made his debut parachute jump from 15,000 feet in aid of the Injured Jockeys Fund.
