The Covid-19 pandemic has made life challenging on the high street and betting shops have been no exception, but the new man in charge of William Hill's retail estate is still positive about the sector's future.

Garry Fenton succeeded Steven White as the bookmaker's UK operations director this spring, taking over responsibility for William Hill's more than 1,400 betting shops and around 6,500 retail staff.

Fenton has been at William Hill for four years and was their regional manager for Scotland before his current role. He had previously worked in hospitality and casinos, including for Ladbrokes and Gala Coral.
