What advice would you give your ten-year-old self?
Eleanor Roosevelt said "Do one thing every day that scares you" and I would advise to challenge yourself constantly and step outside your comfort zone – and you have to sacrifice things to get what you want.

What’s the best bet you’ve ever had?
I hardly ever bet but I backed a horse of Malcolm Jefferson's called Sharpasaknife at Wetherby, the day that I walked there with Richard Farquhar from Ripon. It started at 16-1 but paid 32-1 on the Tote, so I did very well out of that.

How important is the work that Racing Welfare does for racing?
It's crucial because what we're all about is keeping racing's workforce going, keeping them happy and healthy. That's our main purpose.
