Trainer

It has to be Vincent O'Brien, by a mile. He was the greatest of all time, so far ahead of the pack he can't be caught. It wasn't just the training - he also had the foresight to look to American breeding, don't forget he's the man who picked up on Northern Dancer and changed the shape of European racing. His achievements both on the Flat and over jumps are unlikely to be repeated; I read plenty of racing books but his autobiography would be the only one I've read twice, and would read again.
