As if Cheltenham needed a shot in the arm, the heavyweight clash between Defi Du Seuil and Un De Sceaux in Ascot's Clarence House Chase provided a sizeable injection of anticipation and excitement, with Philip Hobbs's 2019 JLT Chase winner skipping away from his seasoned rival to install himself favourite for the Queen Mother Champion Chase. With Altior waiting in the wings for his moment in the spotlight, we began talking about the 'race of the festival'.
