Troytown day at Navan and Casey hoping to thwart the Elliott battalions

Sunday is Troytown day at Navan, the biggest jumps race at the County Meath track with Gordon Elliott fielding 12 of the 25 runners as he bids to win the Ladbrokes-sponsored three mile handicap for the fifth consecutive year.

Among those who will be attempting to foil the Elliott battalions will be Francis Casey, trainer of Eight Till Late who will be making a quick reappearance after running a lot better than he was entitled to at the weights when last of three in a 2m6f Listed chase at Thurles on Thursday.

Three horse races can often be misleading and the two horses he finished close to are none too reliable but, unlike many others in the line-up, the versatile ten-year-old will relish the good ground and could provide connections with a rattling good run at a track that holds many happy memories for the Casey family following Flemenstar's exploits.
