A well-known licensed trainer told me recently they had never bought a young British point-to-pointer.

Given the quantity and quality of talent on sale in Ireland and France I was not surprised. After all, if I buy a good coat or pair of boots from one shop I will probably go back there.

Our habit of returning to proven sources is one reason why vendors of French juvenile hurdlers and Irish pointers have an advantage over up-and-coming British stables.
