1 Mark Johnston
The master of Kingsley House, Middleham, was the top record-breaker of 2018 by virtue of becoming the winningmost trainer of all time in Britain.
The Scotsman landed the 4,194th British victory of his career (Flat and jumps combined) with Poet's Society at York on August 23, thus surpassing Richard Hannon snr, who retired with a score of 4,193.
The trainers' record for the most career wins in Britain has passed in turn from 19th century National Hunt giant Arthur Yates to Arthur Stephenson (1992), Martin Pipe (2000), Hannon snr (2013) and now Johnston, whose first winner was Hinari Video at Carlisle in 1987.
