The key questions answered after a huge weekend over jumps
Tom Bellamy, Ryan Hatch, Robbie Power and Nicky Richards debate the hot topics
What pointers to the future were there in the BetVictor Gold Cup on Saturday?
Tom Bellamy, jockey The one to take out of the race is Le Prezien. I thought it was a very good run, particularly as he’s as effective on better ground. There’s a big handicap in him. And of course Splash Of Ginge, now that he’s got his confidence back. Hopefully he can go on to better things.
Ryan Hatch, jockey There wasn’t an obviously progressive second-season novice in the race like you normally get. Starchitect is a consistent sort who again ran well and deserves to win a big race. Le Prezien also did well of course, and I expect he will be back for the race in December.
Robbie Power jockey It would be foolish to read too much into it with regard to the festival, given the way the ground was, but the one I would definitely take out of it is Tully East. He travelled well for an awful long way and I think there could be another big handicap in him this season on better ground.
