'The combination of Clare Balding and Willie Carson worked a treat'
Bradley Turner, 21, gives his thoughts on the sport's broadcasting
The coverage Channel 4 has provided is really good, especially at big events such as Royal Ascot and Cheltenham Festival. Clare Balding is a brilliant presenter and she brings an extra spark to the coverage. Aside from Clare, I think Rishi Persad is excellent and he will be an excellent acquisition for ITV.
Obviously the history of horse racing broadcasting in Britain is with the BBC and that will never change. The combination of Clare Balding and Willie Carson worked a treat and the coverage was superb for a long period of time. However, a change was needed and it came at the right time in my opinion to modernise and give a different angle to the sport.
I don't agree with Mark Johnston that the coverage needs to be more 'fun' though, as I think the majority of viewers are watching to have a bet, so the odds should be shown on a regular basis, while I feel the team don’t go too in-depth anyway.
