Like many people in racing, The Dikler has always felt there was a great deal to be modest about. Equally, The Dikler has long held the view people who claim to be humble often tend to have precisely the opposite characteristics.

So it was intriguing to see BHA chairman Steve Harman in a recent interview with Owner & Breeder magazine ascribe the lack of an announcement of the renewal of his tenure in the job not to a communications failure but to "humility".

The Dikler thought the absence of an announcement might have had more to do with Harman having had his wings clipped, in particular by the racecourses.
