Tale of ten front pages: how racing returned from the coronavirus pandemic
Following the cessation of racing in Britain on March 18 and in Ireland the following week, the Racing Post temporarily switched to a digital-only edition on March 28. Here are ten front pages showing how the sport bounced back amid the coronavirus pandemic
Launch of the digital edition (March 28)
Industry leaders began to grapple with the multi-million-pound cost of a sustained shutdown and Horse Racing Ireland's chief executive Brian Kavanagh was "very worried" about the viability of racecourses with sports banned in Ireland until at least April 19.
Work was under way to try to reschedule the major Easter festivals at Cork and Fairyhouse but they would be cancelled on April 1, along with the remainder of the jumps season in Ireland. A day later it was announced that British jump racing was suspended until July 1.
