'Such an adrenaline rush riding or watching horses – I'd recommend it to anyone'
Darren Hall, 26, on why he loves racing
There are many reasons I love horseracing – the thrill, the excitement, the adrenaline rush.
I first got into racing when I was taken to my local course, Beverley, years ago by my parents. Even though I didn’t have a winner, I enjoyed seeing the horses and watching the jockeys in the paddock – and loved the racing from the moment they jumped out the stalls.
After football, racing is the second most-watched sport worldwide, and for good reason too – everything about the sport gives you a rush. I ride horses myself and can’t explain the experience. When you’re sitting on top of an animal galloping at 40mph it’s such an adrenaline high you don’t want to get off – sometimes you might fall off, but you can’t let it knock your confidence!
