Lewis Porteous gets the lowdown from Thorndale Farm

Back in 2015 Kim Bailey and his owners decided to focus their attention on the future, targeting young horses with the potential and pedigrees to excel with time over jumps.

Five years on they are reaping the rewards of that policy change, so much so the trainer believes his current squad is the strongest he has housed at Thorndale Farm in the Cotswolds since he moved there in 2006.

Bailey, who has enjoyed a barnstorming autumn, continues to stock the supply chain each year, so it is no great surprise he pinpoints the novice hurdle division as one in which he hopes to have plenty of runners and success as the season progresses.
