If Clive Cox can repeat last season’s success this year he will be a very happy chap indeed after enjoying a 2017 that just about had it all.

With a Royal Ascot winner, two Group 1s and home to the highest-rated sprinter in the world, his yard in Lambourn excelled, ending the year with 60 winners and nearly £1.5 million in prize-money.

“From a quality point of view, we were over the moon and Harry Angel was a major flagship for us,” said Cox. “The two-year-olds did us proud and, with another Royal Ascot winner with Heartache, it was a very satisfying year.”
