Lambourn correspondent James Burn gets the lowdown from the popular trainer

Clive Cox was without a top-level winner in 2021, but the overall total of 79 he saddled in Britain was a personal-best, and two horses who contributed to that haul – Caturra and Wings Of War – could help with the Group 1 quest.

The pair form part of an exciting string for the popular Lambourn trainer this season, half of whom are two-year-olds, while at the opposite end of the scale the remarkable Tis Marvellous seems as good as ever at the age of eight. Aratus is another name to note.

Cox says: "I'm always competitive and if we beat 79 that would be brilliant, but – perhaps more importantly – I want to be turning up on the right days with the right horses.
