'It's been a great start - we have a whole heap of horses coming through'
Lewis Porteous speaks to the master of Ditcheat about his star-studded team
Even by his own exacting standards, Paul Nicholls made a fabulous start to the autumn and is tearing towards the winter at full pelt with a team that has true strength in depth.
By the start of October the 12-time champion trainer had already put 31 winners on the board. A further 18 in that month put him on the brink of 50 winners in Britain and Frodon's win in Down Royal's Champion Chase meant this season's Grade 1 haul was already up and running before November 1.
"We've had a great start," says Nicholls. "I don't think we'd ever had as many winners before October 1 as we had this season and I was trying my damnedest to get 50 in Britain by November 1.
