Dual-purpose trainer with some serious talent at her disposal
After a magnificent spring under the jumps code, Jessica Harrington is already in high gear for the summer on the Flat, and even a cursory glance at her string suggests this could be her best yet.
Spearheading the early charge among her older horses is Torcedor, who put himself forward as a genuine contender for the Ascot Gold Cup with his defeat of Order Of St George in the Vintage Crop Stakes at Navan.
With 75 Flat horses for the coming months, she looks well set to continue what has already been a fast start to the season. Notwithstanding the impression made by the five-year-old Torcedor, the strength of the Harrington string may well end up being her two-year-olds. Of those who have already run, Alpha Centauri showed she may well be Royal Ascot class with an impressive Naas debut and Brother Bear looks to be in the same mould after his debut victory at Leopardstown on Sunday.
