The involvement of online casino firm 32Red in Wayne Rooney’s controversial move to Derby County as a player-coach has sparked the shadow sports minister into claiming football’s relationship with betting companies is "out of control".

Derby's owner-chairman Mel Morris revealed last week the Gibraltar-based firm, who are the Championship club’s official shirt sponsors, had offered a club-record sponsorship deal after Rooney joined the Rams.

England’s all-time record goalscorer will wear the number 32 when teaming up with the East Midlands club on January 1.
