Rush the man who prompted rider to join up to Reds
The Grand National-winning jockey on his top Liverpool players
Robbie Fowler
He was one of the best goal poachers the Premier League has ever seen and he was also a great character. One of my favourite goals of his was when he pulled a ball from out of the sky and drove it past Fabian Barthez in 2001 when we beat Man Utd 2-0 at Anfield. He was a real Liverpool legend. I remember he scored one of the quickest hat-tricks ever against Arsenal as well. That record stood for around 21 years until Sadio Mane broke it last year. There were countless moments where he sniffed out goals and he was just so dangerous in the box.
Ian Rush
Probably the main reason I started supporting Liverpool. His performance in the 1986 FA Cup Final when we beat Everton 3-1, just one week after winning the league, was one of his best days in a Liverpool shirt. He was a superstar in the 80s and one of the best players I have ever watched.
Luis Suarez
Suarez was one of the most gifted players to play for us. He was electric on his day – when he behaved himself! He has gone on to be a great success with Barcelona but it’s a pity we couldn’t hang on to him. He’s plying his trade in a front three alongside Messi and Neymar and he’s consistently up there with the best players in the world. He was a class act for us and he scored some brilliant goals.
